Lewis James Farrell
====================================================================
   At the time of the Johnstown, PA flood, May 31, 1889, Lewis was
working for his father in the PRR shops at Tyrone. Although not a
licensed locomotive engineer, because of the emergency and his
ability to run a locomotive, he was sent to the flood devastated
area by the Tyrone Division. He operated a locomotive in helping
clean up the tracks in the region, but left after only a few days.

   He could not tolerate having arms and legs apppear when he
pulled up the crane. Knowing that two female cousins (Devlin) had
been flood victims, "he had visions that the next body would be that
of one of these cousins."

   (R.E. Malloy - per letter from his son, Edward, dated
Oct 25, 1979).
